H1N1 Influenza Confirmed in Saint Lucia
On the evening of Friday June 26, 2009, the Ministry of Health was informed by CAREC (Caribbean Epidemiology Center based in Trinidad) that the first case of H1N1 Influenza had been confirmed in Saint Lucia.


Barbados to modify and test Tsunami Warning Protocols
Members of staff from the Department of Emergency Management and the Coastal Zone Management Authority are among representatives from 30 local agencies and organisations who will modify and test tsunami warning protocols at a two-day national workshop to be held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, between June 29 and 30, 2009.

The 18th meeting of the Council of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Response Agency (CDERA) convened in Georgetown yesterday with an extensive agenda dealing with the advancement of comprehensive disaster management for the region.
