Officials await handing over of Antigua & Barbuda's new disaster headquarters
Although the new building which is to house the headquarters for the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) has been completed, it has not yet been handed over to local officials. Director for the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) Philmore Mullin told the Antigua Sun that they are still waiting on an official word from sponsors before a decision can be made on the opening date.

Region called on to improve disaster planning
Speaking at the launch of the Vulnerability Benchmarking Tool (BTool) in St. Lucia on Tuesday. Director-General of the OECS, Dr. Len Ishmael has called on members states to make better planning and investment decisions in order to reduce the risk of future natural disasters.

Severe weather inconveniences parents
Considerable rains accompanied by lightning between Sunday and yesterday resulted in floods, school closure and a boat fire in Antigua and Barbuda.

New state of the art facility for Antigua National Office of Disaster Services (NODS)
The building currently housing the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) looks like it has been through its fair share of disasters, but the nearby headquarters now under construction is to be a shining example of preventative disaster management in action.
