PAHO hosts workshop on emergency planning for regional hospitals
Heads of hospitals and other senior staff from Anguilla, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, and St.Vincent and the Grenadines are attending a three-day workshop (May 13-15) on Hospital Emergency Planning at the Grand Barbados Hotel.

CARICOM and Caribbean Development Bank on regional insurance facility board
The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) now have representatives on the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF) which was designed to provide financial assistance to member countries affected by natural disasters.

Eastern Caribbean braces for potentially dangerous sea swells
Residents of Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean have been warned to expect huge waves to affect their coasts, as a deep low pressure system centred over the North Atlantic threatens to generate large sea swells.

Improved insurance deal for Caribbean governments
Governments participating in the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF) which gives financial support to countries in the event of a natural disaster will pay 10 percent less in premiums this year. And they're also being promised settlement of claims in as little as two weeks.
