Dr Carby: Risk from any Eastern Caribbean tsunami may be slight
Despite recent wire service reports, and some specialist websites, reporting an unstable volcano on Dominica, and undersea earth tremors off the coast of Grenada, Dr Barbara Carby, Director of Hazard Management Cayman Islands (HMCI) said that these are unlikely to pose any danger to Cayman.

Hurricane Ike triggers CCRIF's first hurricane payout
The Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility is set to make a payout of approximately US$6.3 million to the government of the Turks and Caicos Islands, within the terms of that country's hurricane policy which was purchased at the start of the 2008 Atlantic Hurricane season.

Earthquake hits western Caribbean
Strong earthquake, measured a 6.1 magnitude on the Richter scale, struck the eastern Caribbean on Sunday, 4 February, according to the Earthquake Unit at the University of the West Indies, Mona campus.
