Officials from the National Emergency Management Office (NEMO), now back from Haiti, are of the view, that time will be the greatest healer for the survivors of the deadly earthquake which struck on 12th of January.

Drought threatening Guyana agriculture

Looming drought in the Caribbean
Farmers and ordinary householders in Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Grenada and St. Lucia among others are starting to express concern about looming water shortages resulting from the prolonged dry season that saw vastly reduced annual year-end rainfall levels.

Special Unit for CARICOM Haiti assistance

Haitian Government receives US$7.75M CCRIF payout
The Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF) today (January 26)paid the Government of Haiti US $7,753,579 following the Magnitude 7.0 earthquake which struck close to Port-au-Prince on 12 January, causing damage of catastrophic proportions.
