Brades, Montserrat,  March 23, 2007 (GIU) -  The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) briefed the Volcano Executive Group (VEG) Thursday 22nd August 2007 on their latest findings.

The VEG considered this advice carefully and decided that no extension of the boundaries of the “unsafe” area is required for the time being.

However, the VEG did not rule out the possibility of doing so in the future and agreed that the ever changing situation of the Soufriere Hills volcano requires that the civil authorities keep the situation under constant review.

The VEG concluded that persons who live south of the Nantes River and who would feel more comfortable moving further north should do so.

The DMCA will provide advice to those who wish to move.
