Kings Town, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, October 19, 2005 (NEMO) - More than 70 persons involved in the Adult Literacy Crusade will hone their disaster management skills in two separate workshops slated for this Wednesday and Thursday.

This training is a collaborative initiative between the National Emergency Management Office (NEMO) and the National Adult Literacy Crusade, as part of efforts to effectively deliver disaster management information to the nation’s adult population.

National Disaster Coordinator, Howie Prince says “the main objective of the training is to expose Literacy Crusade Personnel to the concept of disaster management and its importance to national development and to introduce them to the basics involved in developing a family emergency plan. Persons trained will then be expected to effectively communicate and teach both facilitators and learners in the National Adult Literacy Programme”.

The opening ceremony for both workshops commences at 9:00 in the morning. Addresses will come from National Disaster Coordinator Howie Prince, Director of the National Adult literacy Crusade Hugh Wyllie and Coordinator for Adult and Continuing Education, Frances Clarke.

The workshops will be held in NEMO’s conference room at its Old Montrose Headquarters.
