A series of Tropical Waves are expected to progressively affect the island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines over the next few days accordingl to the Meteorological Office (SVGMET).

These waves are expected to bring scattered showers to the island. These showers may be heavy and may produce localized flooding. Rainfall through 72 hours may see accumulation of 1 - 2.5 inches.

Residents in areas frequently affected by flash floods and landslides are advised to keep a “watchful eye” and exercise caution. Some of these areas prone to flooding include Kingstown, Calliaqua, Arnos Vale and Marriaqua.

The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) is reminding the public to:

  • Listen continuously to local radio stations for updated weather information.
  •  Be ready to respond and act quickly if you are living in flood prone areas. Floods and flash floods can happen quickly and without warning.
  • Exercise caution when driving along areas prone to landslides and flooding.

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Office (SVGMET) and the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) will continue to monitor these series of Tropical Waves.
