BVI Department of Disaster Management launches summer programme

Tortola, April 17th, 2008 (DDM) – The Department of Disaster Management is launching its first summer programme. The Summer Exploration Programme is designed to offer a wealth of education in the area of disaster preparedness. As a part of the programme students will learn VHF and HF radio operations, arts and crafts, video and audio capture and editing and hazard safety. They will also participate in geological field trips throughout the Territory and sporting activities.

The Summer Exploration Programme is scheduled to begin Monday 28th July and conclude on Friday 29th August 2008. This programme is opened to a maximum of 20 participants between the ages of 12 and 16 and will be offered weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The overall cost of the programme inclusive of all learning materials, transportation, T-shirt and lunch will be $150.00.
