Castries, Saint Lucia, January 14, 210 (CDEMA) - On behalf of the Government and People of Saint Lucia, the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) would like to invite donations for the ‘Haiti Earthquake Aid Appeal Fund’ which is being launched to provide assistance to Haiti. This fund will serve as the official fund for Saint Lucia. Our Haitian brothers and Sisters were severely impacted by the Earthquake of January 12, 2010 and are in dire need of our help.

Donations can be made to the following bank Accounts:

1.    Bank of Saint Lucia, Decentralized Disaster Preparedness Account, Account # 901029840
2.    First National Bank, Disaster Relief Fund, Account # 6002153
3.    RBTT Caribbean Limited, Account # 7076300
4.    First Caribbean International Bank - National Emergency Fund, Account # 02-1804460
5.    Royal Bank of Canada, Disaster Emergency, Account # 1002005
6.    Bank of Nova Scotia Bank, Account # 32816

We all need to be generous and help in alleviating the plight of our Haitian brothers and sisters consistent with the spirit of being our “brothers’ keeper”.

NEMO would like to remind persons that donations of items and supplies cannot be considered at this time, as firstly we have not been informed of Haiti’s specific needs and secondly the cost of transporting items to Haiti may prove to be uneconomical relative to sending cash.

Remember Today is Haiti…Tomorrow may be us…Donate generously.
