Anguilla gets new disaster management director
Mrs Elizabeth Klute has taken up an appointment as Director, Disaster Management (Consultant) in charge of the Disaster Management Department. She has been appointed on consultancy terms for to develop Anguilla’s disaster preparedness capability and to co-ordinate the preparation and testing of a comprehensive set of contingency plans against all forms of disaster.

Government of Anguilla approves Comprehensive Disaster Management Strategy
The Government of Anguilla has approved a number of recommendations contained in a Comprehensive Disaster Management Strategy study. The study resulted in a Strategic Review of the disaster management capabilities of the island and the recommendations seek to move away from a predominant focus on hurricane preparedness and response to a much broader approach, which places emphasis on reducing vulnerability to hazards and risks of all kinds in Anguilla.

Roger Bellers takes up post in Anguilla
Mr Roger Bellers, Disaster Management Adviser for the Department for International Development of the United Kingdom has taken up a year long posting to Anguilla. Tasked with advising on the approach of the United Kingdom to disaster management in the Overseas Territories, Mr Bellers will offer support and technical assistance in disaster management to the Government of Anguilla.
