The Jamaica Meterological Service has advised the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) that a Tropical Storm Warning and a Hurricane Watch remain in effect for Jamaica, as Tropical Storm Gustav resumes a track closer to the island.

Jamaica is now on Tropical Storm Watch as Fay is expected to affect the island’s weather conditions. As early as this evening, Jamaica could begin to experience heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds, especially over northern parishes.

Flash flood warning remains in effect for all parishes
As the island continues to be influenced by unstable weather conditions, The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) has been advised by the Meteorological Service of Jamaica that the Flash Flood Warning remains in effect for low-lying and flood-prone areas in all parishes across Jamaica until 5:00 p.m. today.
