Montserrat - Significant Weather Advisory -April 3
In light of the significant weather advisory issued by both the Antigua Meteorological Services and the Gerald’s Airport Meteorological Office, the Disaster Management Coordination Agency (DMCA) is urging residents to take precautions against flash flooding and landslides.

Montserrat residents returning home after February evacuation
The Montserrat Emergency Policy Group(EPG) accepted the findings of the SAC that risks have reduced following a period of little activity at the surface of the volcano Residents from the February 15, 2007 evacuation can return to their homes full time from Saturday 21 July.

Increased activity at the Soufriere Hills Volcano in Montserrat
Scientists at the MVO have reported that the situation at the Soufriere Hills Volcano remains unchanged today.The alert level remains at level four. Heightened seismic activity, with an ongoing swarm of volcanic earthquakes, increases the possibility of serious eruptive events.

Montserrat hosts major international disaster management exercise
Montserrat was the venue for a major international exercise June 5-10, 2005. The On-site Operations Coordination Centre training module in International Search and Rescue Operations and other disaster scenarios formed part of the training programme of the United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination Team.

Name change for Montserrat national disaster office
The national disaster management office in Montserrat has a new name. It is the Disaster Management Coordination Agency (DMCA). The previous office, known as the Emergency Department, was often mistaken for the emergency services of the hospital. The role of the DMCA is to provide comprehensive disaster preparedness and mitigation, response, and recovery programmes for the citizens of Montserrat.

Montserrat dedicates its new media as it hosts its National Hurricane Conference
The disaster office in Montserrat has a new media centre. The commissioning of the media centre heralded a new beginning in the information dissemination process on disasters matters for the Disaster Management Coordination Agency. Coinciding with the opening of the centre was the hosting of the island's annual hurricane conference.

Emergency Policy Group of Montserrat meets
The Emergency Policy Group of the Disaster Management Coordination Agency of Montserrat met to review the operational guidelines of the Emergency Operations Centre. One of the major areas which was thought to need serious attention was transportation into and out of Montserrat - vulnerability of both the seaport and heliport in the event of disasters, especially hurricanes.

Work starts on Montserrat's new EOC Media Centre
Work has started on the new Media Centre for the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) in St John's, Montserrat.The Centre will will be fully equipped to facilitate media briefings and also serve as a boost for the EOC's public education and information outreach programmes.The UK Department for International Development (DFID) is providing the funding for the project.
