NEMO & USAID/COTS Host Emergency Disaster Planning Training Workshops
Representatives from the Public, Private and Financial Sectors were given the opportunity to gain first hand knowledge in developing Disaster Plans for their Organizations during three Emergency/Disaster Planning Workshops held on the 26th, 27th and 28th March, 2008.

NEMO & Marion House to host trauma and internal stabilization workshop
Persons involved in dealing with individuals and families who have been traumatized, particularly, by adverse events and disasters will hone their skills during a two day workshop slated for February 19 and 20, 2008 at NEMO Headquarters in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Residents of Paget Farm, Bequia and Dark View will be the first to benefit from the MoSSaiC((Management of Slope Stability in Communities) Landslide Mitigation Project implemented in St. Vincent and the Grenadines in 2008.

Disaster awareness training for grade five students at the Marriaqua Government School Saint Vincent
Grade five students at the Marriaqua Government School will be introduced to a number of practical exercises in understanding natural hazards and disaster management topics using a newly developed innovation called Disaster Awareness Game (DAG).

NEMO & CDERA emergency operations centre training workshop to conclude with simulation excercise
The three days workshop on Emergency Operation Centre Training being conducted by the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) in collaboration with the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Response Agency (CDERA) will conclude with a simulation exercise beginning at 11:00a.m on Friday 10th August, 2007.

NEMO test emergency telecommunication network during Region Rap
The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) was given the opportunity to test its national capabilities and the regional emergency telecommunication network, through the simulation of possible real time scenarios for St. Vincent and the Grenadines during the ‘Exercise Region Rap 2007’.

NEMO & OFDA host Shelter Management & Initial Damage Assessment workshops, diasaster preparedness & awareness activites
The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) in its efforts to continue to build capacities in the areas of Shelter and Shelter Management and Initial Damage Assessment will be conducting two workshops this week, in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA).

NEMO & Bequia Disaster Management Committe to host awareness activities.
The Bequia Disaster Management Committee has accelerated its awareness activities to prepare residents of Bequia to weather this hurricane season which is predicted to be very active. The committee aims to ensure that an overall disaster plan is in place for the island’s response to hurricanes and storms.

NEMO held first Whistle Stop & Exhibition for 2007
The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) kicked off its first Whistle Stop and Exhibition in Chateaubelair on Tuesday 22nd May 2007. The Whistle Stop and Exhibition forms part of NEMO’s Awareness activities for the 2007 Hurricane Season.
