The Bequia Disaster Management Committee has accelerated its awareness activities to prepare residents of Bequia to weather this hurricane season which is predicted to be very active. The committee aims to ensure that an overall disaster plan is in place for the island’s response to hurricanes and storms.

The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) kicked off its first Whistle Stop and Exhibition in Chateaubelair on Tuesday 22nd May 2007. The Whistle Stop and Exhibition forms part of NEMO’s Awareness activities for the 2007 Hurricane Season.
