At a graduation ceremony held on Sunday March 30, at the Bay Gardens Hotel, Saint Lucia for participants in the EMT certification programme, endorsed by the University of the West Indies, Mr. Herman, an Emergency Medical Services Instructor, placed great importance on the need for the provision of professional training of local Emergency Medical Technicians.

OECS set to manage disaster vulnerability
OECS member-states will soon be better able to measure their level of vulnerability when it comes to natural and man-made disasters. This could be achieved with the Vulnerability Benchmarking Tool (BTool), which was developed by the OECS secretariat with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Felt aftershock following the November 29th, 2007 earthquake
On Wednesday 5th December at 8:11am local time, an aftershock following the 29/11/07 earthquake which occurred north of Martinique was felt in Saint Lucia, Dominica and St. Vincent.
