OCHA Situation Report No. 7 - Guyana - Floods

1. Today, the United Nations launched a Flash Appeal in Georgetown to cover the emergency and transitional response to the flood disaster in Guyana. The activities will address the humanitarian and community recovery needs identified in close collaboration with the Government and aid partners in Guyana.

2. The Flash Appeal, seeking USD 2,975,000, covers a period of six months from mid-February to mid-August 2005, and its requirements are as follows:

3. The Financial Tracking Service (FTS) shows the funding status of each project in the appeal, continuously updated, on www.reliefweb.int. Donors and appealing agencies are both requested to share information on all humanitarian contributions with the FTS.

4. This Flash Appeal and information on ongoing emergencies is also available on the OCHA Internet Website at http://www.reliefweb.int.
