The Seismic Research Unit confirmed reports of a felt earthquake near Dominica and a separate event near Saint Lucia on November 17th and November 19th, respectively. Due to technical difficulties the SRU is unable to provide an exact location and map for these events at this time, however other details are as follows:

  • Dominica - On Thursday, November 17th at 1:56AM local time an earthquake of magnitude 3.3 was felt in northern Dominica.
  • Saint Lucia - On Saturday, November 19th at 10:36PM local time, an earthquake of magnitude 3.3 was felt in Saint Lucia.

These events are unrelated.  For updates on these and other geologic events in the Eastern Caribbean please visit the SRU website at ww.uwiseismic.com

As usual the NEMO Secretariat is asking the public to report to them where they were when the earthquake occurred.  The office may be contacted at 452-3802.
