Earthquake felt in the Eastern Caribbean

Bridgetown, Barbados, February 6, 2008 (CDERA) - The Seismic Research Unit , Saint Augustine, Trinidad reported that on Wednesday afternoon 6th February, an earthquake occurred northeast of Martinique. The preliminary location for the event is 14.95°N 60.54°W. The depth was 20km and the magnitude was 4.6 on the Richter Scale. This earthquake was reported as felt in Saint Lucia as well as Scotts Head in Dominica and Antigua. A map of this event can be found below.

The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Response Agency (CDERA) Coordinating Unit made contact with the National Disaster Offices of Antigua, Dominica and St. Lucia and there were no reports of damage.
