The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) continues to direct resources to the Regional Corporations when requested to assist persons that have been affected by the flooding experienced earlier this week.

The ODPM wishes to advise the public that although the floodwaters appear to be receding in several areas, in other areas the waters is receding at a slower rate. Several homes and roads are still affected by floodwaters.

Police has advised that its Officers will continue to be on duty to assist the traveling public along affected roadways, especially on the Uriah Butler Highway, which is now fully opened to traffic. Members of the public are however asked to proceed cautiously and adjust their timings, as there is still some water along this highway.

The ODPM is working with its partners (Ministry of Social Development – SHARE and Family Services Division) to quicken the relief process for affected persons.

The ODPM will continue to monitor the situation and advise the public according.
