Actions Taken:
The Sangre Grande Regional Corporation, Princes Town Regional Corporation and the Mayaro Rio Claro Regional Corporation have partially activated their systems. Reconnaissance teams from these Corporations have been dispatched.
The Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service is assisting the Mayaro Rio Claro Corporation with repairing the roofs of damaged houses. A MRRC truck is also assisting in transporting persons in the flooded Plum Mitan area.
The Sangre Grande Corporation is assisting the students of the Manzanilla High School who are trapped in floodwaters.
The ODPM has alerted the National Emergency Task Force and requested that all systems be on high alert. A meeting of select members of the National Task Force has been called for Wednesday morning (8:00 am) to review response actions to be undertaken during the course of the night and to plan for additional actions during that day. These members are primarily operational, they include the First responders (TTFS, TTPS, Health), the second responders (Mechanical Services MOWT, Local Government), the relief providers (Ministry of Social Development and NGOs) and the early warning experts (Meteorological Services, Water Resources Agency and Drainage Division MOWT) amongst others.
The Civilian Conservation Corp will be assisting the ODPM during the course of the night with telecommunications (landlines – TSTT). The Trinidad and Tobago Cadet Force will also assist with transportation.
The ODPM has partially activated the National EOC and operations will be ongoing through the night. The Trinidad and Tobago Amateur Radio League is supporting emergency communications (VHF and HF) at the NEOC.
