Actions Taken:

The ODPM has been requesting information and initial reports from the Assessment teams at the Regional Corporations as part of the Standard Operating Procedures. 
Reminders on the Standard Operating Procedures for the provision of relief have also been given to the Regional Corporations.

Thus far the following has been received.

San Fernando City Corporation – “Ground surveys conducted by our field officers along with feedback from other agencies have revealed neither cases of negative impacts suffered by residents of San Fernando nor any serious cases of flooding occurring”. 

Sangre Grande Regional Corporation – “rising flood waters has affected several families in the Vega de Oropuche and fishing pond areas in the process destroying household effects and food supplies”.   Request made for the following;

• 30 food hampers
• 10 mattresses

Princes Town Regional Corporation – “ to begin the damage assessment survey today”

The ODPM’s partially activated National Emergency Operating Centre (EOC) continued operations throughout the night with the assistance of the Trinidad and Tobago Amateur Radio League and the Civilian Conservation Corp. 

Though SAR Operations have been stood down, the emergency services/first responders remain on alert should there be life-threatening conditions.  The situation has been deemed dynamic and conditions may change.

As flood waters recede the Ministry of Social Development in collaboration with the Regional Corporations will attempt the damage assessment and need analysis in several areas including the Moruga, Caparo, Sangre Grande and Kelly Village. 

At this time the south bound lane of the Uriah Butler Highway has approximately 3-4” of water on the left side of the lane.  The Police Service is on the scene and monitoring.  Should conditions change the public will be advised accordingly.
