The Caribbean is characterized as the most tourism dependent region in the world whilst at the same time being the second most hazard prone. This reality necessitated this dialogue between disaster risk reduction and tourism stakeholders.

It is indeed a pleasure to bring you greetings on behalf of the Coordinator and Staff of CDERA on the occasion of this 5th gathering of the National Disaster Management Conference (NDMC). The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) must be congratulated for remaining steadfast in its drive to making this Conference an enduring feature on the disaster management calendar of Jamaica.
