St. Maarten to Host Caribbean Hurricane Conference in 2007
Disaster Management Coordinator and Fire Chief Winston Salomon, announced on Wednesday that St. Maarten will be hosting the Caribbean Hurricane Conference in 2007. Initial preparations are now getting underway; however an exact date still has to be established for the conference which will cater to the Caribbean islands.

Disaster Coordinator urging residents to maintain state of readiness
Disaster Management Coordinator/Fire Commander Winston Salomon, would like to remind residents that there is still seven weeks to go before the end of the 2005 hurricane season and is urging residents to continue to monitor weather reports and to maintain a state of readiness to take action should this be warranted due to a hurricane threat.

ODMP urges residents to monitor closely the progress of a Tropical Wave east of the Islands
Disaster Management Coordinator/Fire Commander Winston Salomon, said on Thursday that the Office of Disaster Management & Preparedness (ODMP) is currently closely monitoring the progress of a vigorous Tropical Wave that was located on Thursday at 5.00pm 850 miles east of the Windward Islands.

St Maarten: Governor calls on nation to prepare for active 2005 Hurricane Season
Governor Franklyn Richards, Chairman of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), is calling on the St. Maarten nation to prepare for an active 2005 Hurricane Season which officially starts June 01 and runs until November 30. The Office of Disaster Management has advised the public to implement its own hurricane protection plan by making sure their disaster kits are fully stocked.
